Christian and Kaytie enjoy traveling, boating, camping, hiking, music, Nutella, reading together, spending time at Kaytie's family ranch, staying up late and dreaming.

Kaytie is from Ogden, Utah.  While her family home was located there, wanderlust was a major aspect of her upbringing.  She remembers spending all but a week or two of her summer with her family in either a 15 passenger van or a motorhome. (You need a big vehicle like that when there are 8 kids and 2 adults touring the US.)  After high school, she still had some adventure left in her.  She attended college on the North Shore of Oahu at BYU's Hawaii campus.  Her weeks were spent in the library, the piano practice room, and the Natural History Museum where she was the curator.  Her weekends were spent hitch hiking on Kamehameha Highway, camping on mountainsides and small rock outcroppings in the Pacific, rock climbing at Kaena Point and island hopping to Maui and Kauai.

Christian is from Littleton, Colorado.  As a 3 year old, his mother had a hard time keeping him in the courtyard outside their apartment.  He was constantly trying to see the other parts of the complex.  As an 8 year old, his dream was to cross County Line Road on his bike just to explore the other side.  And as he grew this interest in seeing what was just beyond his reach never faded.  That may be why he transferred colleges twice before arriving at BYU-Hawaii.

Christian and Kaytie met in 2008 while singing for the school's concert choir.  Their initial impressions of each other were not favorable.  He thought she was way too serious about choir and she thought he was only there to meet girls.  (Both were probably right.)  It all changed one day when Christian saw Kaytie walk by in high heels with her blonde hair flowing.  Suddenly Christian knew it was time to get serious help in Choir.

After a couple after-hours practice sessions in the choir room, their first date was rock climbing above some of the most beautiful scenery in Hawaii.  From that point, it just got better and better.

They were married in July of 2009 and returned to Hawaii for their Senior years.  Kaytie graduated in English and Piano.  Christian finished the year with one online class left to take.  He plans to finish that up... someday.  (At that time he was far too busy earning his Private Pilot's certificate.)  During their last year in Hawaii they camped in the Haleakala crater on Maui, backpacked the Na Pali coastline of Kauai, and explored both Molokai and the Big Island.

They have lived in Hau'ula Hawaii, Portland Oregon, Provo Utah, Austin Texas and in Houston Texas three separate times.  They have visited Taiwan (Taipei, Kaioshiung, and Taichung), Hong Kong, Jamaica, Haiti, all of the main Hawaiian Islands, and lots of places on both US coasts and quite a few places in between.
